Jimmy Salvemini

Jimmy Salvemini (born in Long Island, New York) is a R&B singer from the 80s who began performing when he was 8 years old.

In 1985, he became the "Junior Male Vocalist" champion on the popular talent television series "Star Search." After seeing Jimmy perform on "Star Search," late R&B singer Luther Vandross took an interest in him and began writing & producing his debut album.

On January 26, 1986, one day after completing work on Jimmy's soon-to-be debut album, Jimmy and his older brother Larry (who was also his manager) were passengers in Luther's car when Luther swerved it out of control & collided into two oncoming cars. While Jimmy and Luther recovered from their injuries, sadly Larry was unable to recover & succumbed from his injuries.

Luther later faced a civil suit from the Salvemini family, but it was eventually settled out of court. Later, Jimmy returned to his hometown and in the summer of that same year, Elektra Records quietly released his debut album "Roll It," but they decided not to pursue marketing on the album due to the circumstances that occurred.
After that, it appeared as if Jimmy faded into obscurity, but in 2008, he independently released his sophomore album "Self Expression." These days, it appears that Jimmy still continues to sing & perform.
