Roni Griffith

Roni Griffith (from Bloomington, Indiana) was a female dance/pop singer from the 80s. She was an original member of King Creole and the Coconuts before going solo, signing with Vanguard Records. Roni resided in New York from the age of 19 to 23 years old.

In 1980, Roni's first solo single, "Mondo Man" peaked at #36 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart.
A year later, Roni's second single, "I Want Your Lovin'/Desire" peaked at #30 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart.
In 1982, Roni released her self-titled solo album on Vanguard Records. It's unknown how or if the album made the charts.
Roni scored a hit with the single, "(The Best Part Of) Breakin' Up" which peaked at #2 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. In the U.K., the single managed to peak at #63 on the U.K. Singles chart. She also appeared in the first national Clairol commercial shot in 35 mm film for "Nice 'n Easy."

Just as Roni's first music video was about to launch on MTV, she decided to leave the secular music scene based on her morals and values as a Christian. In 1983, Roni pursued a career in the Christian Contemporary music genre. She appeared on "The 700 Club" and appeared numerous times in her hometown newspaper, "The Herald Times."

In 1994, Roni became a professional photographer and opened her own talented production company, Integrity Productions. She has been working as one of Indiana's most renowned photographers for over 10 years.
In 2005, Roni released a Christian Contemporary album entitled "Only You" which is available on CD Baby. Roni continues to work as a photographer today.
